As per Indian mythology, in the very beginning when Lord Brahma wanted to create the universe – he created 7 sages ( rishis) who were also assigned the task of procreation in order to populate the earth
One of the sages Marichi had a son named Kashyap who’s wife Aditi gave birth to 12 sons – it is said that these 12 sons united to become one, with the blessings of Lord Vishnu to form the SUN.
The Sun was the first and only graha( planet) at that time
As the procreation process commissioned by Brahma progressed – the number of karmic accounts ( accounts of good and bad deeds) increased and the transactional difficulties in handling those karmic accounts, lead to creation of 6 other grahas – Moon, Mercury, Saturn, Venus, Mars, Jupiter
Two other grahas known as Rahu and Ketu were added later after the famous churning of the ocean event.
Hence, the sun represents the beginning or being the first or number 1 in many ways. The day starts with the rising of the sun. The sun being the first planet represents leadership, authority and power. In a sense, the sun is also the source of life on earth and thus also represents our relationship with the father in our birth chart.
