Saturn is considered by many astrologers as the most important planet.  Thanks to certain fatalist astrologers, there is a huge fear psychosis among the masses as far as Shani or Saturn is concerned.

Saturn is considered to be the one causing delays and denials and a very stern judge.

The delays caused by Saturn are actually a slowing down of time – Saturn is the lord of karma and also the lord of time.

During a cricket match or a tennis match – very often the commentators and referees/umpires choose to analyze an action replay for a certain moment of the game. The action replay is nothing but a crucial moment of the game replayed in slow motion. Slow motion replay helps in seeing the minute details.

In the same way, Saturn’s placement and periods have an impact of shifting things to low gear – actions happen literally in slow motion and one has the leisure of observing the minute details. The very act of slowing down and observing various actions is a spiritual practice or sadhna of the highest order.  I have observed that many individuals espouse the spiritual path and have intense thirst/dedication to know more about it, when they are running a period of Saturn or Ketu.

Saturn is the Lord of Dharma or the keeper of Justice – so absolute integrity is a must  to be in alignment with Saturn. The main shrine of the Lord Shani is situated in Shani Shignapur,  a village situated in Maharashtra, India. A very astonishing feature about this village which houses the world’s most powerful Saturn temple is that none of the houses has doors and even if there are doors there is no practice of locking these doors – even the local bank is not locked! Such is the just reign of Lord Saturn.

Saturn represents the ancient and the mature, thus one may adopt an old school approach   in the matters of life dominated by Saturn. Saturn’s impact may also make the native feel limited, but these limitations or restrictions again aid the process of observation, whether we like it or not. The only way to be in alignment with Saturn is to be disciplined and moreover work on developing one’s awareness through intensive practices of self inquiry and spirituality!
